Stand by me
After watching that video stand by me, it left me with the inspiration to start playing music again. The idea of musicians from around the world--unknown musicians at that--coming together to perform on one song is a pretty crazy thought. However it's starting to become a common thing with pop music. Today it seems like every song has a producer from somewhere else, or a songwriter from another country. The digital age has allowed music to be worked on from anywhere in the world. Here's an example. There is an organization founded by Linkin Park called Music For Relief. They created an album called Download to Donate with music from a huge variety of musicians (Slash, Linkin Park, Enrique Iglesias, Kenna etc.) and put it up on the internet to download. You have the option to donate money for the album but were not forced to. Anyway, they put together the album in a few days because of technology. Artists sent their songs via the internet, and they even wrote songs for the album that way. Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park who produced some of the music would send the song over the internet to an artist, who would then record their vocals on it. When they were done they would send it back over the internet and add it to the album. It's amazing how quickly an album can be put out now!
